Om Creations Trust came into being when a few parents of the young adults from the first batch of S.P.J. Sadhana realized the need for an organization where their wards could put into practice the skills they had acquired at Sadhana School, thereby enabling them to earn not just a living but also lead a more meaningful life.
This was in the year 1991, a time when there was hardly any awareness about integrating the specially abled into the mainstream.
Amidst such an unpromising scenario, Om Creations started out from ShikharKunj, the residence of one of the founder trustees, with 4 young adults and a portfolio of 15 products.
Emphasis on product design and investment in quality was stressed upon even then, and though it was a modest beginning, the beneficiaries were paid a stipend right from the start.
In 1996, Om Creations moved to a barrack at King George Memorial Compound, Mahalaxmi.
For Om Creations, the journey of the last two decades has not just been about insurmountable hurdles. There have been many momentous milestones along the way.
Starting with 4 beneficiaries to employing over 66 presently. Om Creations now operates out of three centres in South Mumbai. It manages a portfolio of over 150 products in the arts section, and over 100 products in the catering section, and continues to exceed expectations with respect to growth in sales year on year.
