An NGO working with
developmentally challenged women
Om Creations is a registered
non profit organization that was initiated by a
visionary special educator along with parents of
young mentally challenged girls.
The
organization is run on the conviction that with
professional training and support, women born
with Downs syndrome and other mental disabilities
can imbibe professional skill sets and become
productive contributors. This will make them less
of a “burden” as well as impart a
sense of self worth. We aim to ensure that they
live as normal a life as is possible.
Today, after years
of collective struggle, the proof of the concept
is at hand.
Our production center buzzes with activity and our
special workers fit into a routine, manufacturing
craft and ceramic items, designing and making hand
made silk scarves as well as cooking and baking
to order and for sale.
Our special workers join us after completing their
special 5 year training program at the SPJ Sadhana
School in their chosen field- This includes –
Visual Arts, Craft, hospitality and catering.
Our special workers work regular hours and take
home a stipend earned from their own efforts.
Om Creations is a small organization that is doing
pioneering work with developmentally challenged
women. We are small on resources and big on efforts.
We welcome interactions with people who would like
to help us.
